Sunday Morning Out

Jerry & Spencer are sick, both have the flu.  Spencer has an ear infection and pink eye along with fever & chills.  The nurse is tired and grouchy.  I spent this Sunday morning in WM in Anadarko, we were out of Motrin, Gatorade and Sprite....all must haves for the flu according to my honey.  It was a weird feeling, I saw lots of people I knew.  Across the wm parking lot I saw a young family going into church, in the wm store, I saw young familys shopping seemingly unaware and unfazed that church was going on, I didn't like it.  This afternoon I drove to Lawton to retrieve prescriptions for both of them.  They have improved some, Spencer is still miserable.  Sunday mornings are not for WM......

This gate has been hanging, then dragging on the BP since I can remember, we're going to keep it!  It won't look new, but it has been opened and closed by four generations of Whitfields.  I like it.

OYE 2012

Spencer and "Sally May" she was 3rd in the 3rd class. 

Cale and "Elizabeth" in the make ready area for Class 1 Simmentals, he was 2nd and the calf that beat him won the Simmental Breed Champion.  In the Bred and Owned division (meaning he raised her) she was the Breed Champion!!

Waiting for the Hereford Showmanship is Southwest Oklahoma's newly minted Jr. Hereford Director. His heifer would lay down three times before the show, she was tired and ready to go back to the stall!

Cale and "Ruth" in the Big Girl Simmental class, he won the class with her.  She has been a very "pleasant" calf for him.

Jr. Jr. sacked out on wood chips.  Stock showing is hard on boys...and parents too!

One good kid!  He was second with both of his Shorthorn heifers as well as being a fitting team finalist!

Turning Out Ruth

Big Momma Ruth went to the pasture today, she was the class winner in the Big Girl class of Simmentals at OYE.  She also was the Supreme Champion Heifer @ the Comanche County Spring Livestock Show.  She has been a great calf for Cale.

Setting her free....off she went to beat up the other heifers....she was back up at the showcalf pen in time for supper...

Supreme Champ Heifer Comanche Co. Spring Lvst. Show

Cale & Ruth won the Supreme Champion Heifer, it was the best fun we've had in many moons!!
This picture was from the Champ Simmental drive, I didn't get a good one of the real "winning slap/handshake"....I was a bit too excited and it was blurry! 
Spencer won Breed Champion Limousin and
 Reserve Champion Hereford.

Cale was second in the intermediate showmanship.
