Making A List

We are preparing for a rain, freezing rain, sleet and or snow-- storm.  So the list is being made, we'll put out hay, feed cattle and wait to see just what type of moisture will come our way.  We're desperate for moisture and will take it in any form.  So, off to make that list!  Hopefully it won't be like last year at this time, nine days with no juice!

Kleenex, Nyquil, Tylenol....

Since Jan 17th at least one of the men in my life have been "entertaining" the flu.  If by chance you drive down our road and see a crazy lady chasing cars....you'll know it's me. Perhaps I've doled out a few tylenol, fetched one too many sips of Nyquil and have picked up the last kleenex off of the floor....I am not getting it-am sure that positive thinking wards off all types of flu or strep.

My Hair Hurts

Our kids are sick.....one has strep throat and the other has runny nose-itis and fever.  Oldest was sure that his hair even hurt!  One thing for certain, God did not intend for me to be a nurse....I'd be like the chick above.  One thing more, we have a wonderful doctor, you can actually CALL him on his cell phone....he is so good!  Pray for me next week, we'll have 52 pounds of homework to catch up on!

Adoption

During our college days Paula and I met through the FFA's International Exchange with Australia being our destination.  We've remained friends.  She and her honey have just finalized the adoption of a very blessed little Russian boy named Dennis.  So pray for them.  Life is just about to get interesting!

Santa Fe Chicken

This is a recipe that I've had for a while, and starving boys seem to really like it!

Santa Fe Chicken

Add to your crockpot:

1 drained can of black beans
     1 drained can of corn
     1 can of chicken broth
2 drained cans of chicken (or leftover)
Cook on low for three hours then add one block (the big one) of cream cheese and mix well, cooking one more hour on low.

This is a good one, so get cooking!

The Reception

The wedding reception was held yesterday, a day that started very early (3:30am-ish) for Mr. BBQ Brisketman and about 7:30 for Aunty Mary who had hurry and wrap gifts while finding socks for the deprived children. Mr. Brisketman prepared three briskets, thinking that it would be gobs, we'd have leftovers and all would go away satisfied.....we were so wrong! Apologies to those who weren't allowed meet their daily protein requirement.  We'll know better next time.

The newlyweds received many nice gifts, my favorite was a Snapfish book made from their actual wedding. It had many pictures and suggestions such as "don't be a donkey to one another, there are enough donkeys in the world already".

Our family cake maker busy at her job, she turned 31 today, Happy Birthday Baby!

It was a nice event, our Jeccapoo was blessed and so were we.

Happy New Year

One of our Christmas celebrations was held on New Years.  To make use of the left over pumpkin patch pop (coke, dr. pepper & throwback mt dew) the boys went down to the pump patch on horses to gather them up.  Sir Ropes An Ice Chest drug it up to the house with his horse.  God Bless horses that tolerate such "duties". Dipstick (the horse) did not appreciate it.   Well here we are a few days after and the ice chest remains very handy...right out the front door.  Plenty cool enough.
Even SaraKatyDid and her family made it down.  We had a good time.

Pecans

These are graham cracker pecan bars...which I found online and made the other night.  They are good, but I'll do better next time, the sisters and I thought that just coating the pecans would be better....less calories that way.  If you'd like to make them look on about.com for southern food.
