making hay

Once again we are making hay while the sun shines!  The lack of rain in our slice of Oklahoma is o-so evident in the puny windrows the swather is spitting out behind....but...a little hay is better than no hay!  So, off I go to swath the hay....

OH>>>and happy birthday to my sister Barbara and my friend sister, Lynn Ann...they are 25 & 30 this year....again!

My Baby is DUE!

Mr. BBQ Man always enjoys pestering expectant mothers.  When my sister and I were pregnant at the same time we (sister, husband and I) struck the same pose....Husband has yet to deliver, while my sisters baby and mine are now 11 years old.   He is hoping he'll make the front page of the National Enquirer....."MAN IN TABLE CLOTH SHIRT DELIVERS 10 POUND BABY AT FAMILY BBQ"  But, enough of that, our dear self adopted little sister JOY is due within the week, so please pray for and husband Steven that all will go wonderfully.  It's a girl.

On a Steel Horse I Ride

Alright... get to singing Bon Jovi's "I'm a cowboy,on a steel horse I ride..." This is a goat roping contraption which we've borrowed and soon it will be on it's way back home.  The boys have had a good time playing on it over the last couple of years.  They have been working quite a bit lately and are ready to enjoy the water park....they'll be the two with farmer tans....

Brinks Trucks

This is like a Brinks truck....it hauls away tubs of money.  $700 for air-conditioner repair on our 4250 tractor.  Please pray for my computer repair man...vacation and a family emergency has taken him away.  I'll see you when my computer is fixed and back at home

Biscuits & Refineries

I was already in the mix on biscuits when low and behold....I did not have enough flour--SR flour.  Yes, one can make do, but I chose to drive to town and find some.  Of the two retail grocery type establishments, not one drop of SR flour was to be found.  We once had a thriving industry in our small town....a refinery.  It has long since died and thus our community has suffered the loss over the years.  Our grocery store burned down a few years ago, I miss it, I miss the sense of community it provided.  I miss orange push ups and SR FLOUR when I need it.    I miss Cyril and the life it once had.

Off to Camp

Junior Junior is off to camp for the first time in life WITHOUT his big brother, Sir Bosses Around Alot. JJ will be at church camp with a few relatives.  Aunt Ann, Aunty Connie, cousin Audra, married (& old) cousin Michelle and here three little darlings.  So, he should not be too homesick.  Hope he takes a bath and brushes his teeth......I wonder too if roping kids is acceptable at Falls Creek????  Don't think that little rope will see the light of day, do you???

Tuesday, June 1, 2010

Our picture boy above now weighs 42 lbs.  He has recently enjoyed a quick trip to the vet....Let me share with you the details.  Said morning found Mort (the dog) in need of a bath, no self-respecting farm dog could be caught at the v-e-t-s in a condition of filth.  Lady of the house and youngest child proceeded to drag the dog to the bathtub.  Dog endured and tried only a few times to escape the strange smells wafting from his Dawn dish soaped body.  Dried off by a grungy towel, dog was let outside----which proved to be a monumental mistake. All people know that dogs LIKE the smell of stink, it is a perfume that makes them dashingly irresistable.   Then Mort, the cute, clean smelling pooch....well we were getting ready to load a prolapsed heifer and a stud colt into the trailer for veterinarian repair and removal....when all of the sudden...Husband began to laugh, Mort was lavishing, frolicking and scooting his once clean body through a mud hole...head and all, every inch of him was nasty....He was then led to the water hose where no dawn dish soap nor warm water flowed.  His coming in the house days are OVER.
