Biscuits & Refineries

I was already in the mix on biscuits when low and behold....I did not have enough flour--SR flour.  Yes, one can make do, but I chose to drive to town and find some.  Of the two retail grocery type establishments, not one drop of SR flour was to be found.  We once had a thriving industry in our small town....a refinery.  It has long since died and thus our community has suffered the loss over the years.  Our grocery store burned down a few years ago, I miss it, I miss the sense of community it provided.  I miss orange push ups and SR FLOUR when I need it.    I miss Cyril and the life it once had.

  1. That is sad Mary. While I think I live in a little bit larger town than you (we have just under 5,000 population) I share your feelings. Our town used to really be something. The railroad went through town. We had lots of retail businesses and restaurants. I loved growing up here. Then the railroad filed bankruptcy, Wal-Mart came to town and things really started going downhill. Not bashing Wal-Mart, just being real. The last few years we have had our largest employer, a factory, close down. We have lost all three of our new car dealerships. There's not much left. We do have two grocery stores, thankfully! Progress ain't always progress is it. If I could, I would send you self-rising flour :0!!! Have a GREAT WEEKEND!
