Heifers
I just love this heifer, but I'm afraid that she'll be a bit "high headed". We don't like those kind, they tend to throw their head up and head for the hills...far away from any human contact. We try to sort the hateful ones off, but sometimes they slip by...they look sooooo good, we're blinded by their beauty..That is until baby #1 rolls around about February, on a day when the wind is blowing 400 mph and it's raining ice....pretty heifer decides to calve....but would rather eat you for supper than allow any (beneficial) intervention....until that nice day...we'll just continue to feed and adore her and say over and over to ourselves.....we will NEVER keep a PRETTY MEAN one again. A lesson in love....pretty on the outside...sometimes is ugly on the inside!

We have had the same thing. You're trying to help them . . . they're trying to kill you. We pulled a calf one year. The cow was halfway in the creek, hubby pulled the calf, we thought the cow was dead. We untied the rope, the cow jumped up and chased my husband twice around a tree and he just barely made it to the pickup. Funny now . . . not funny then :)!! Sure would be nice to speak "cow" language and say "hey, calm down, we're here to help."!!!!!
